You'll Discover That the Bread You're Eating May Be Causing Your Low Blood Platelet Count

So you want to get your low blood platelet count back to normal but you don't know where to start. You probably don't even know why you have Thrombocytopenia so you are really at a loss about your condition. You definitely cannot help something you don't understand. Can you?

What if I told you that you should start at your mouth? What do you mean with my mouth? What I really mean is, you should start with what you put into your mouth. I will show you in this article that what you put in to your mouth can cause your platelets to go haywire. So read on and learn what foods can decrease your platelets.

Wheat Bread

Well I really can't mention all of them now but I'll mention one of them. The bread you eat may be causing your platelets to drop. I know you may be saying that you love your bread and you are not willing to give it up. You may not have to.

The relationship with wheat gluten intolerance and a low blood platelet count has been known since 1968. In this same year it was found that some who suffered from celiac disease developed low blood platelet counts. Celiac is a disease where a person has a severe reaction to gliadin. Gliadin is the one of the proteins of gluten present in wheat. I hope I didn't confuse you with this. Let me just say it again just in case you didn't get it. Wheat has gluten which is a protein. And gluten contain different proteins one of which is gliadin.

Ok. I hope you got it this time. Well in Celiac disease wheat causes damage to the intestinal lining to the point where the person cannot absorb nutrients and develops loose stools.

I know you are saying that you don't have these symptoms. But there is a type gluten intolerance that doesn't show drastic symptoms. The person having this type of gluten intolerance may develop another disease apparently not related. The damage that wheat does to the intestinal lining causes the body to produce antibodies that destroy platelets.

So should you stop eating bread? Well not so fast. There are two things you can do. You can get your doctor to do a simple blood test that can detect if you have gluten intolerance. This is really the simplest thing to do.

The other thing you can do is to simply follow a trial gluten free diet. Just to let you know, wheat is not the only grain that has gluten. Oats has gluten also, Kamut and Spelt also. The grains you can eat are rice, corn and millet.
Gluten intolerance was more frequent in children and those over 50. But that doesn't mean you can't have it.

Suggestion: Want to make life easy. Get tested.
